A fire outbreak has destroyed property worth millions of naira at the Kasuwan Dadi section of the Dumne New Market in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, throwing traders and residents of the area into panic.
Although no life was lost and no injuries were recorded, the inferno razed several shops and goods, leaving many traders counting their losses.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the fire was allegedly caused by negligence, as some women who fry the local popular delicacy known as akara in the market reportedly failed to properly put out their cooking fire after the close  of business for the day.
Frantic efforts by the residents to salvage what they could before the fire was eventually brought under control.
As at the time of going to press,
Authorities are yet to issue an official report, while affected traders are calling on the government and relevant agencies to come to their aid.
