The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued three underage girls and arrested two women over an alleged child trafficking scheme uncovered in Yola.
The suspects, identified as Hasiya Yuguda, 35, of NEPA area in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South Local Government Area, were apprehended in connection with the case.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID) acted on credible intelligence on February 17, 2026, and intercepted the three teenagers at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims — Naomi Linus, 14; Agnes Thomas, 16; and Patience Justine, 15 — were allegedly lured to Yola under false pretences and were being prepared for onward transportation to Abuja with promises of securing menial domestic jobs.
Further inquiries also implicated one Simon Boniface, 38, of Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State, who is currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
“The rescued teenagers are currently in protective custody, while efforts are underway to trace their families and ensure safe reunification,” the statement noted.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking, exploitation, and all forms of abuse against minors.
He urged parents and guardians to thoroughly verify any travel or employment arrangements involving their children and called on members of the public to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity involving minors to the nearest police station.
