SONG LAWMAKER INTERVENES IN DILAPIDATED PRIMARY SCHOOLS
The member representing Song Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Kefas, has lamented the deplorable state of primary school infrastructure in Song Local Government Area.
Kefas raised the concern while on a constituency tour, where he inspected some public primary schools and identified challenges affecting teaching and learning.
He said the poor condition of classrooms, furniture and other basic facilities requires urgent attention, prompting his intervention in GRA, Balma and Gulungo Primary Schools.
The lawmaker had provided three blocks of classrooms, a block of examination hall and more than three hundred chairs across the three schools.
Kefas says while the intervention is aimed at addressing some of the immediate challenges, government must do more to ensure that children in his constituency have access to safe and conducive learning environments.
At GRA Primary School, Head Teacher Hassan Liman recalls the difficult conditions the school faced, particularly after some of its structures were razed by fire.
At Balma Primary School, Head Teacher Joseph Gabriel says the intervention has also transformed the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
For the pupils, the new classrooms and furniture offer more than physical infrastructure.
They provide a safer and more dignified environment in which children can learn, while easing some of the challenges teachers face in delivering basic education.
The intervention also comes with a call for sustained government investment in primary education, particularly in communities where ageing or inadequate infrastructure continues to affect children's learning.
