Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing security challenges, restoring peace, and promoting inclusive governance across communities in the state.
The governor made this known during the one-year anniversary celebration of the creation of the Yungur Chiefdom, held in Dumne, Song Local Government Area.
Dumne and surrounding communities, despite enjoying relative peace, have in recent years experienced pockets of insecurity, particularly clashes between herders and farmers.
However, residents described the anniversary as a moment of celebration and renewed hope, following the creation of the chiefdom by the Fintiri administration, a move many believe has strengthened local identity and improved governance at the grassroots.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos , Governor Fintiri urged the people of Yungur Chiefdom to continue supporting government efforts and to sustain peace and unity in the area.
He assured them of the government’s resolve to tackle insecurity and foster development across all communities.
Also speaking at the event, the member representing Song Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Kefas, alongside the Commissioner for Urban and Housing Development, Abdullahi Prambe, commended the governor’s efforts in improving security and promoting unity and inclusiveness in the state.
In his remarks, the Gubor of Yungur Chiefdom, Johnson Diyo Matalo, said his vision is to sustain peace, strengthen unity among the people, and reduce conflicts between herders and farmers.
The ceremony attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders, and featured colourful cultural displays..
